"I'm not going to back down on trans rights or human rights. I support people being who they are and us allowing them to live the life they deserve to live in this country. We cannot afford in this moment at all to back down from what we believe. In fact, we have to lean into it. Change can come. We can't keep hoping from talking from the pulpit or online that we're going to reach these people. We have to go to their communities, knock on their doors, and say hello. The real divide ain't left to right, it's up and down."
