Scientists taught parrots the concept of money, and the result shocked everyone. Original post
"Scientists taught parrots the concept of money. What the parrots did next shocked everyone. Researchers wanted to see how parrots would react to wealth inequality, so they designed an experiment. First, they gave parrots metal rings and taught them these rings were currency that could be exchanged for food. Once the parrots understood the concept, the scientists introduced a massive wealth gap. One parrot received 10 metal rings, while the parrot in the next cage got zero. The wealthy parrot immediately noticed its neighbor had nothing and wouldn't be able to eat. So without any prompting, it started passing metal rings through the gap in the wall to the poor parrot. The researchers ran this test multiple times with different parrots. Every single time, the wealthy parrots shared their wealth so that everyone could eat. This was a completely selfless response. Interestingly, when researchers did a similar experiment with monkeys, the results were completely different. The monkeys eventually started trading their money for adult favors instead of helping each other."
