"The World Cup, it's been bringing us so much joy, but as we've shown throughout this series, there's always something more sinister going on. And so to only lean into that joy the World Cup has been giving us, means to ignore the mistreatment of the Iranian team, forced to fly back and forth between Mexico and the US, without proper preparation or recovery time between matches. It means to ignore the fact that the US Secretary of Homeland Security said he might have danced a happy dance when Iran were eventually eliminated from the tournament. It means to ignore other visa restrictions by the US government on fans, officials, journalists and referees. And it means to ignore Donald Trump's meddling in this tournament, pressuring FIFA president Gianni Infantino to review US star Flo Balagan's suspension from the host nation's match with Belgium.
