"Let us be reminded that the arc of the moral universe and that of our nation is long, but it bends towards justice, not by time alone, but by those with the courage to pray with their feet in underground railroads at the falls of Seneca, on the bridges of Selma, in the streets of Memphis, and at stone walls. Let us rejoice not because the work is complete, but because we have never relented in the pursuit of more perfect union, that while we continue the journey to the promised land as seen by a preacher from a mountain top, let us never forget that in our darkest moments we have always risen again, from the smoke of a pearl harbor, from the ashes of twin towers, that in this country there is no challenge, no test, no moment that we cannot meet so long as we face them together. Let our 250 years of history, of struggle, of resilience, and of perseverance be reminders that we must go forth united, that we can bind up the wounds of our nation, that we can heal our divides, so that we can one day fulfill the promise of e pluribus unum."
