Its beauty, its wildness, its extraordinary possibility. They helped us build our communities. And today, they remain our trusted friends and companions in sport, in healing, in work, and in service. Horses embody the American spirit of freedom. But every year, more than 20,000 are lost to the darkness of the slaughter pipeline. It's time to protect our horses and leave a legacy as magnificent as they are. As we honor the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, let us also honor them for all they have done for us.
