Someone asked me what will keep me humble 10 years from now. My answer: "You guys will." No corporate PAC money = no shortcut. Just earning your vote, over and over — my commitment to you and the fight I bring to this race. Watch my full answer, then get involved: diop4mi.com ⬇️

"My question is, as a person, as a voter, if I vote for you to be my congressman, and ten years from now, what is going to keep you humble? Opponent that is running against you right now in our primary, we all know that he has not met with you one on one at a meet and greet or even questionnaires. When he does go for meet and greets, he leaves right away before people can ask him serious questions. It comes to mind that politicians, when their political atmosphere is so long, their heads get big, and they forget they're convinced of it. What is going to make you humble and stay humble for the many years that you do serve the people? You guys will. You know, I don't accept any corporate PAC money, which means that I have to go out and earn the vote. Which means I have to have conversations with you all time and time again, and I've got to do that every other year to get re-elected. Politicians now, they just hit up Daddy War Bucks, they write them a check, and then bam, they're re-elected. They don't have to talk to a single soul, and we know that's true because that's how Bill Heisinga operates. He, the first of this term, locked his doors, turned off his office phones, stopped having meetings. I'll be humble by remaining committed to the people. I've taken leadership from folks who have gotten elected this way, including my mom. She's a tribal council person for the NWCP here in Banda Potawatomi, and I've had a chance to watch her leadership for the past 10 years. You know, somebody that has helped my tribe even receive federal recognition, started our spooky spectacular for the kids, and even started our Flapjack Friday, which, you know, we give out pancakes. And it's actually a harvest celebration, and then we give out our syrup that we get from our maple trees on our reservation. When you see someone like that in your own household just devote their entire heart and being into the people, then there's no other alternative in how you can serve. So that's why I'm out here doing this. And I'm not taking corporate PAC money. I'm not doing that because it's sexy. In fact, it makes it harder to campaign. But once I get an office, it makes it easier for us to pass legislation out, actually bring good to our communities, like universal health care. I don't have to have any conversations with the insurance companies, because I've heard from you all about how health insurance hurts you. So I want to ensure you have access to the doctor, no matter if you're working or not. I'm not taking corporate PAC money, so I'm going to fight back against the energy utility companies, fight to lower rates, and fight for green energy projects that work for us. Right now, we have a state senator who is taking money from DTE consumers as a sitting state senator, chair of the energy committee, approving rate hikes on us all, tax breaks for data centers out of his own committee. So there's a tangible effect of corporate PAC money in our elections. It makes us less responsive to the people as well. So I'm not taking corporate PAC money, so I can't remain humble."
