"What does it take to bring nature back from the brink? Right now, across Kent, wildlife is under pressure. Habitats are being fragmented, species are being lost, and the natural systems that support life are disappearing. But nature can recover. Beneath our feet, dormant seeds lie hidden. They have the potential to be our new woodlands, our new heathens, our new grasses, valuable habitat for wildlife. But they need the right conditions to grow. Through our Nature Restoration Fund, we're restoring habitats across Kent, helping nature begin that journey back from the brink. At Ironhurst Valley, we're laying the foundations for a couple. We're helping to restore the soils and the habitats and the valuable areas for wildlife. And at Hamphen, beavers are helping shape the landscape themselves, creating areas that store water and areas that are absolutely amazing for wildlife and future-proofing these landscapes, making them more resilient and moving into the future. But bringing nature back from the brink isn't a one-off project. Fencing constantly needs repairing. Invasive species need tackling. Our habitats need continuing monitoring and managing to make sure that the work we're doing is having the desired effect. Nature recovery is an ongoing journey, with investment needed at every stage.
