"But obviously Jim Walden was the head coach and they closed the deal and got Troy to come and here he ends up being a Heisman finalist twice. Had we won two, three, four more games, Troy's junior year, I believe he would have gotten it, still should have gotten it. Danny Wirfel got it because they had a much better record and they had a high profile team with Coach Scurrier and we hadn't turned the program around yet. But here it was 19, think about this guys, it was 1995 and 1996. Nobody had ever done it in the history of college football. It's now 2026 and nobody still has ever done what Troy did. Two years in a row over 2000."
