"I currently am stationed in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and as we reach this milestone of 250th anniversary of our nation, I think the Midwest is the engine of the country, and everybody should be proud of where we've been and perhaps come together to discern and to look ahead where we can be as a nation. At this time in our country, it's a time for celebration, but it's also a time for us to pause and to reflect where we've been and where we can go. And reflecting on our Catholic faith, it's the idea of what is and what can be, the now but not yet. And it's also the Catholic idea that we need everyone to be together. And with every voices, we are stronger that we can be a whole. So don't lose hope, we need everyone's voice to be a whole family."
