Robert Kennedy Jr. was hastily put in charge of special education in this country. I have a nephew who's autistic, and I wouldn't want RFK Jr. anywhere near him. Call your senators. Tell them not to let RFK Jr. near our special needs children. (202) 224-3121
"Last week, the administration put RFK Junior in charge of special education programs. This comes after years of controversial statements from RFK Junior about mental illness and people with disability, including these comments from April about children with autism. Autism destroys families, and these are kids who will never pay taxes, they'll never hold a job, they'll never play baseball, they'll never write a poem, they'll never go out on a date, many of them will never use a toilet unassisted. I normally don't do it like this. I try to let the footage do the talking for me, but this one's personal, so bear with me. Bite me, Bobby. Your decades of manipulating and misunderstanding science are bad enough, but your messaging around autism and how it affects the way a parent looks at their own child is disgusting. My nephew is autistic, but thankfully, my big sister and her family didn't take the bait from people like Robert Kennedy Junior. They listened to empathetic experts and did the hard work. One of those experts actually said to my sister that her son would never drive a car and never graduate college. Years later, he's got his driver's license and he just graduated college. So suck it, Robert Kennedy Junior. And let me be clear, my nephew's worth is not about the car or the degree. It's about you, privileged Bobby, being wrong. You weren't only wrong, you were cruel and wrong. There is a bit of hope. A bipartisan Senate pairing of Republican Bill Cassidy and Democrat Tim Kaine have committed to a vote this month to block this move. So call your senators and tell them to not let Robert Kennedy Junior anywhere near our special needs children."
