World Cup Champion Crystal Dunn explains how she became an owner of the Tallahassee Reckoning, a USL W club dedicated to making soccer more accessible to girls in the U.S. ๐
"You are officially becoming an owner of the Tallahassee Reckoning. This is a pre-professional USLW team, the first of its kind for Tallahassee. Its professional partner is Gotham FC, one of your old clubs. And they also have an academy to develop talent for the world. Talk to me about the Tallahassee Reckoning. How did you get involved? I got involved because my former COO of Washington Spirit, when I got drafted there, her name is Dr. Ashley Fontes, she reached out and basically filled me in on a project that she's working on. It was very clear what her vision is. She's like, I need to, we need to strengthen the soccer community in this area, but also just open up more opportunities for women, young girls to play this sport. And we all know, obviously in the US, it's expensive to play club soccer. I love the fact that, you know, what Dr. Ashley Fontes is trying to do is really combat that structure and really allow kids to kind of come in, play at the lowest, most minimal cost and give them the best kind of coaching environment and have all that they need to have their own journey and their own success."
