Remember when Chuck Edwards couldn't explain why Republicans were making tax breaks for the wealthy permanent while refusing to extend the ACA tax credits that kept health coverage affordable? Now, North Carolinians are paying higher premiums because of that decision. #NC11

"Yeah, you're breaking up a little bit, but go ahead. Oh, hi, thank you so much. I wasn't sure if I was patched through. I understand your perspective, but you didn't really answer the question. I understand why you think the government is shut down, but what I would really like to understand is why the temporary tax cuts for wealthier Americans that were extended from 2017, why those can be permanently enshrined and passed through this big, beautiful bill, but those subsidies can't, why can't you all go back to the table and negotiate with the Democrats to try to find a middle ground between both? I mean, I understand when the ACA subsidies came about, it was during the pandemic, but we now live in a very tumultuous world and a shaky American economy, and as a recent cancer survivor who luckily has private insurance through my job, I understand the importance of having health insurance. It doesn't seem like the wealthy really need a lot of help. It is the middle and lower class people that need a subsidy to make sure that they can have affordable healthcare for themselves and their families. I'm gonna draw this parallel because you made it. First of all, the tax cuts that you're referring to did not disproportionately help the wealthy as you want to describe them."
