Bubba Wallace climbed out of his car and told his team, “f*cking finally!” He was very happy they had a smooth day, and he praised his replacement pit crew members who filled in after a penalty for a lost wheel at San Diego.
"First thing you said, walking up to your crew was fine. Yeah. So, what's the best way to describe that? Because you guys were fast, but just stuff went right for you today. Yeah, it did. We got a little bit behind on that one restart where I about watered it up. And it's sad when you're all crossed up and you're just like, here we go again, here's another bad incident that's about to happen. But no, we lost all that track position. We had a good restart after that to get half of it back, but we just never got the front back. So, unfortunate on that, but man, it was just nice to just have a green race, nothing go wrong. Our two fill-ins for our picker, they didn't polish the last two weeks, no mistakes, kept us in the game. So, I really appreciate the picker department. Everything is power on all cylinders, and that's what you need to go win these races. So, I feel like we've been there. Maybe one's not all the way lit up, but we've had so much pace all year and just nothing to go with that. So, today, everything went right. We know what we can do to be better and come back stronger. I did look. With like three to go, you still had the fastest lap of the race. Yeah. No, I mean, we had speed in our car. It was fast. Once I figured out how to drive after the first run in practice, it all kind of came together. But yeah, we're just fine tweaking it, man. We know how fast the Toyotas are, so hope for Toyota to win. But, you know, we just got to be better. And it's going to take everything. And we just missed it just a little bit. So, excited to get to the shots tomorrow and figure it out."
