The #TexasRangers can chase the shiny deadline rumor. But the real question is roster math. If Texas adds another bat, where does that player actually fit? Zeke looks like the 2B answer. Smith is still sitting there. Joc/Foscue are tied to the DH lane. Somebody probably has to move.

"Should the Rangers go all in for Tarek Schubel? Maybe, but before Texas goes chasing the shiny deadline rumor, there's a more annoying question sitting there. Where does another bat actually fit on this roster? Because if Wyatt Langford is healthy, he's playing, Nemo's playing, and Carter's still covering center. Berger is at first, Seager at short, Young at third, and with the way Ezekiel Duran is played, second base is clearly his job when Seager gets back. And Smitty is still sitting there too, which is a great problem, but it creates an obvious roster squeeze. So if the Rangers do go and add a bat, which they should, somebody has to move. Either you trade from that infield depth to fix another part of the roster, or you create real DH flexibility. And that is where Jock Peterson and Justin Foskew enter this conversation. Right now, the Rangers are basically using Jock vs. Wrighties and Foskew vs. Lefties. That is two roster spots for one DH lane. If that production stays loud, fine. But if it doesn't, now you are losing flexibility. Because bringing up DH lets you rotate Seager, Nemo, Langford, Berger, or even Young through there without taking a bat out of the lineup. And if Texas does add another bat, now that bat has another landing spot too. So if the Rangers can get any value for Jock before this deal reaches the finish line, why would that be off the table? Can Texas miss the playoffs with Jock Peterson still on the roster? Yeah, nobody would be stunned. So the deadline question is not just scubal. And it's not even just add a bat. It is roster math. And before Texas adds anything, they need to decide who actually gets moved. We keep going. God bless and go Rangers."
