what are strategies you've taken to cope with anxiety?
"I feel like anxiety has been my longest-standing relationship. It's always been there for me. And it's a form of fortune-telling, right? Where because my world felt so volatile and unpredictable, anxiety gave me security, because it would give me a narrative which gave me control. So I would say, okay, well, people are gonna hate me. And then I would just live in that reality, because that was an easier place to live in because it was known and it was familiar. But the problem with anxiety is when you begin to live in these meta-narratives, you don't actually notice what's happening around you, the fact that people might actually love you. Anything that contradicts the contours of the story that you script isn't rendered real. So it's like my life has been a scripted comedy called anxiety where I do really funky, idiosyncratic, ridiculous, self-sabotaging things because in my brain it makes sense, but in the world it's like, girl, read the room. No, it doesn't. It doesn't."
