A quick reality check for my fellow Italians in New York getting worked up over a map. Little Italy is basically four restaurants in Chinatown now. You're doing just fine out in Staten Island and Long Island. Go watch the Yankees. ⚾️🍕 #NewYork #mamdani #ItalianHeritage
"Quick message for my fellow Italians over in New York giving my boy Mom Donnie a bunch of shit. First off, if there was ever an honorary Italian name it'd be Mom Donnie. I mean come on. But also there are no immigrants in Little Italy. Little Italy is literally like four restaurants in the middle of Chinatown and there hasn't been immigrants living there in probably 50 or 60 years. Like you don't get to be an immigrant enclave forever. These are places that people are actively coming to so that they can feel welcomed in this country. That's not needed for Italians anymore. Most of you are living in Staten Island or on Queens or Long Island or something right? Like you need to get a grip here. Mom Donnie didn't do anything against you specifically. You don't have an immigrant enclave in New York City anymore. It's not there. It's gone. There's some nice restaurants, historic restaurants, that you can still visit and it's fun and you can enjoy your Italian heritage but you don't need an immigrant enclave dot on the map. You'll be okay. You'll live. I promise. Go watch your Yankees."
