"Hi, this is C-4. Well, here we go again with another give them more money to help them type of program. Apparently, the Point Source Youth Program, which apparently is in seven states across the country. It was started by a co-founder, Larry Cohen, who came out of the healthcare executive type of community. He has independent money to do this. He and his program have had 300 participants over those seven states that they have distributed an average payment of $3,700 per person. Now who is receiving this money? They're giving this apparently to 18 to 25 year olds who are at risk of becoming homeless. Now my first question is, what does that mean, at risk of being homeless? There are a lot of young people who are always one paycheck away from having disaster hit. Why? Because if they're living on their own between the ages of 18 to 25, it's hard out here, particularly if you don't have skills or if you're leaving a situation where there's some form of distress. Does that mean then that we have to provide up to $3,700 to help them avoid life's lessons, life's catastrophes that many of us have to face on a regular basis? Whether it's this program, whether it's a guaranteed income program, whether it's a bunch of these programs that are simply giving cash away to individuals without any strings attached or any type of conditions, what we're doing is helping avoid young people or anybody in that situation from dealing with pressure, from dealing with life's problems that make you adjust your lifestyle to fit the situation you're in. Maybe you need two jobs. Maybe you need not to have those extra creature comforts that you have right now. But what we're doing with programs like the Point Source Youth Program is giving money away without the responsibility being there for young people, in particular in this case 18 to 25, are taking responsibility for their decisions. You can listen to the C4 and Brian Neiman show Monday through Friday, 5 30 to 10, right here at WBAL Newsradio 1090, FM 101.5, and the WBAL Radio app."
