Big turnout at bin charge change protest, frustration at DCC & waste companies tactics. Glad to see DCC consultation period extended due to public pressure. Bad system and unfair costs could even create more dumping in D7

"I'm also a resident in one place in Pittsburgh and I just want DCC, Greyhound and all of the other private companies to know that this is discrimination. This is discrimination against the Northside people. We love our community. Look at the Stony Barre Festival. Look at all the other festivals that are in our communities. We give back and we will not accept being bullied by Greyhound and DCC. Greyhound are actively knocking on people's doors up to four times in the day and the week. They are targeting people that are single, the elderly and they are pushing bins on them. People are frightened but most importantly people are angry. We will not have our city being blocked by bins. We will not have our city not being listened through. We are passionate about recycling, we are passionate about biodiversity and most importantly we are passionate about a clean environment. This is actively affecting people's mental health and we will not accept any of the changes that they think they can bring in in October. They have no idea who they are messing with. Finally I just want to give a shout out to EcoWave. They were the only bin company not made in the letter that each one of you has received from DCC. This is a small company that is actively trying to promote all of the values that we value in terms of recycling. People think the only option is a city bin or Greyhound. They do not know about EcoWave and if you want to be a real rebel, my husband and I have stepped away from all bloody companies. We are now actively recycling all our different foods and equipment down in Rathdown Road. That is a free service that is available and if we do have the odd bin every two months, we will go up to Bally One and we will give it to the DCC and we will be charged four euros. So I want to keep my Bally and make sure that DCC do their job and most importantly that private companies will not bully the citizens of this wonderful city which is the North Side."
