"was a league that there was a lot of hype surrounding it and you had some really great personalities be able to launch the league that people were drawn to, that people paid attention to. But then as time went on, the league kind of was on the back burner in terms of sporting coverage, which is unfortunately nothing new when it comes to how women's sports are often covered, particularly in the United States, where women in sports have always had to struggle for legitimacy and access in terms of sports. And a lot of that, unfortunately, comes with, you know, decades long periods of struggle for pay, for salary, for media coverage, etc. And so now we're at a point now where the WNBA is really starting to make headwaves into the mainstream sporting culture, where even folks who didn't pay attention to the WNBA are now starting to pick up on it or starting to give it coverage and are finding players and talent that are worthy of coverage that they feel a certain connection with and they want to opine on because they find something fascinating about, you know, the league or the players or the game itself."
