I mad e a cringe. How to work with a comic book colorist! For artists!

๐ŸŽค Whisper Transcript (en) โฑ 86s

"Have you become a successful enough comic book artist to hire a colorist? First of all Secondly I get it hiring a colorist can be scary So let me answer your questions about how to work with a colorist Now I know this can be scary. So I'm gonna hold your hand when I say this So I like what if the colorist does not do the colors the way that I envision them They're probably not going to do them the way you envision them No, it's okay They're not gonna do them the way you envision them because they can't because they're not you but that's probably a good thing The colorist is an expert and honestly, they might do the colors better than you can but that's not very nice I mean, it's true If you don't think the colors can do a better job than you can then you probably shouldn't be hiring them Does that mean I can't give any feedback like at all? Of course you can give feedback Usually that colorist will send batches of 20 pages and it's appropriate to send about one to two notes per page and You can even go two rounds. I'll be honest. I don't know if I can give up control honestly I'm glad you're telling the truth If you don't think you can give up control then working with a colorist isn't for you but if you do give up control it can lead to some really good things a colorist is not a Assistant they are a collaborator and that always produces the best work Do you feel better now like you can let go and let us do our job no"
