"Mindy here in Medical Minute growing evidence that the food you feed your child really impacts them. A new study shows eating more ultra-processed foods early in life may affect how a child's brain develops. Researchers at Children's Hospital Los Angeles found kids who consumed more ultra-processed foods than others had slightly smaller volumes in several brain regions by the time they were six years old. Those brain regions involve emotion, motivation, and reward. It's important to note the study found no differences in cognitive performance though, but researchers say the findings highlight the importance of healthy nutrition during early childhood, a critical period for brain development.
