"did you happen to find a coincidence between the number of years that one of your respondents have worked in libraries and the incidence of imposter syndrome occurring? Yeah. So it was actually quite interesting. You would think that newer librarians would feel imposter syndrome more, but the survey showed actually the opposite is true. The longer you are a librarian, the more it kind of entrenches in your daily work, in your daily thought process. And I, you know, reading through the responses, I attribute that to they're, they're going to more meetings. They're looking, they're reaching out more on social media, following more librarians versus when they, you know, they're a first year librarian, you're just trying to survive. You don't necessarily have time to compare yourself. But then once you get into a groove, you're like, okay, I can start taking more things on. And then you start looking out at inspiration. And then that's when that comparison culture can start creeping in. So that's, that's personal to me too, right? When I was a baby librarian, as we call ourselves, I was just, I was fine. I thought it was great. You know, I was like, I'm doing amazing. Even, you know, even though I really honestly was just trying to survive. And then once I started getting into my groove as a librarian, that's when it's like, Hmm, am I actually doing everything I could be doing?"
