"Ah, put your hands down. Come on, baby. You guys are sick. Slap that ass. Uncle Ruby was a sick puppy. Oh. Ha ha ha. Men will say, it's just a joke, it's just a statue, but if it's just a statue, then why don't you do it to the male statues? And you wanna act like this is funny, but what does it say about your attitude towards women if your first thought when you see a female statue is to grope it? And fondling the statue would have been inappropriate, but he didn't just fondle it. He smacked it and he choked it. And I would never judge what two consenting adults do behind closed doors, but this isn't about inactive consent. This is about the objectification of women and femininity. Guys like this fondle statues for the same reason they buy blow-up dolls and women robots, and it's because what they wanna do to women isn't socially acceptable to do to women. He went right towards inactive violence because they don't just wanna touch women. They wanna touch women in ways that women don't wanna be touched. And this wasn't even in the privacy of his own home. This was done in public without shame and then posted on the internet for the world to see. So even if you're someone who wants to argue that this is harmless, can you at least acknowledge what that says about the way we trivialize respect for women? And I also want you to consider the way they did this for the approval of one another, because disrespecting women is seen as a way to gain respect from other men. And this statue isn't only of a woman. It's of a woman holding a baby with her arm around a child. And this man actually squeezed her breast while licking the baby's head. This isn't behavior that we should laugh at. This is behavior that should make us check somebody's hard drive. And how can you claim that women are safe if men can't even resist groping the statues that represent them?"
