"In our lab we are focused on looking for the intricate relationship between different organs in the context of metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. That's why we are basing our research in animal studies to look for the entire environment of the body. However, with the appearance of these non-animal tools as a robust and comprehensive approaches we are trying now to change for these type of approaches by developing new tools to mimic the cells that we are interested mostly, that are the carotid body cells, and to try to answer our questions based on these non-animal approaches."
