"Imagine spending three days at the microscope only to realize that your beautiful data, well, it's meaningless. Hi there, my name is Jemma Keller and I'm the founder and scientific director at ViroScope Imaging and I'm going to be answering some of your common IF questions today. Controls are the ultimate insurance policy. Take immunofrescence controls. By leaving out one of the primaries but still standing with both secondaries, you can catch whether the secondaries are selling something aspecifically, having some background, or they're just not behaving. So yes, controls are tedious, but they're often what stands between you and a successful experiment. So I would say do more controls and in the case something goes wrong, they help you troubleshoot and prevent you from putting your hair out."
