"You may have heard me blathering on about a PhD. You may even be sick of me blathering on about a PhD. Hi, I'm Judith the Confident Eater and I support parents of picky eaters. I'm also completing a PhD in psychology. So why the PhD? I went back to uni in my 50s, initially to qualify as a psychologist because I wanted to better be able to support the families I work with and that seemed like a no brainer until I realized that actually I did not want to be a psychologist. What I wanted to do was follow my dream of supporting parents of picky eaters with an intervention. Yes, I could create and run an intervention anyway as I pretty much do any through my private practice. But what I wanted was an evidence-based research-backed program that could be available to anyone who needed it. I did indeed design and test said intervention and that went way better than I ever expected under the auspices of my PhD. What I didn't think through was how I couldn't then use that intervention until it had been written up which will take about two years. But the upshot is the dream is to make this intervention that works really easily available to everybody and I've got lots of ideas of how to make that a reality. It's just gonna take time, a little while."
