"Mask agents Gloria Baker and Bruce Sato are called in to investigate a strange phenomenon happening off the coast of Norway. It looks like it might have something to do with Miles Mayhem and his shenanigans. Mask number two takes us a little bit deeper into this corner of the Energon universe. Dan Waters is taking a lot of inspiration from the original series, but is making some fun choices in character dynamics. This version of the Mask team isn't nearly as harmonic as you may remember them, but it strengthens the story. Teams born from success through strife tend to be stronger. With that said, this story has all the hallmarks of an old Mask episode. It's a whole lot of fun. The star of this issue is Piper's art with Pier Luigi Castellanos colors and Russ Wooten's lettering. Their work does a lot of heavy lifting to immerse us in the action and the level of detail on the characters and of course the vehicles pulls us in deeper. A strong 9.5 out of 10. Mask number two sends us deeper into the Energon universe in the best ways possible. The creative teams love for these characters as evident and transfers to the reader beautifully.
