My favorite room at the Jackson Center? The Grant Room. 🏛️
This stately dining room inside our historic Alonzo Kent Mansion is named for President Grant's 1875 visit as he traveled through Jamestown to speak at the first anniversary of the Chautauqua Institution.

The original plan was for Grant to dine at Governor Reuben Fenton's house, but political tensions between the two men scrapped that idea. Instead, the 12-course lunch honoring a sitting U.S. President was held here.

Original architectural details, period furnishings, and a table that seats up to 20 — it's one of the most storied spots in the building. It's also where I set up shop most days as an intern here — not a bad perk, getting to work where a U.S. President once sat down to eat.
