"Brazil's biggest coffee region just got nearly 20 times its normal rain in just a single week. Let's put that in perspective. We're looking at 1,956 percent of the historical average. This has stalled the harvest right as the world's top grower is picking its crop. As a result, coffee prices have jumped about 11 percent in one month, with the U.S. benchmark near multi-week highs. What's strange about this is that the U.S. Department of Agriculture expects a record Brazil crop this season, up 14 percent from last year. So, with exchange stockpiles at their lowest in more than two years, a delayed harvest is enough to keep prices climbing even in a record year."
