"This is an extraordinarily important partnership for Canada and I would like to say more broadly obviously for our countries, but also it's appropriate that we're having this discussion here at NATO. Let me just put this in context. This is the largest defence procurement in Canada's history. It was done in record time. It was a decision that originally was going to be taken by the end of this decade, but because of the preparedness, because of the partnership, and because of the urgency of the situation, the threats that we face, it was taken within a year. Highly contested, a great submission by our Korean friends Hanwha Ocean. We made the right decision for Canada, we made the right decision for NATO."
