"Many people know, but I'm a doctor, I'm a mom. I ran for Congress because the things that I could treat in my exam rooms weren't the things people really needed addressed. Housing insecurity, addiction services, the fact that they can't pay their bills with the low-income jobs that they are sometimes working 60, 70 hours doing. So I came here to make an impact, and I agree with I think what each and every one of you said, that we need Medicare for all. And I would argue that when we say that, most of us believe that we want universal, affordable, accessible, high-quality healthcare. And frankly, as a practicing physician, I can tell you that Medicare right now as it's working is not that. And so I challenge us to actually think differently about the solutions, because what I believe is that every physician should be able to have autonomy with their patient to use their professional best judgment and have access to the treatments and the services that their patients need. Medicare also doesn't treat vision, it doesn't cover vision, dental, hearing, home care, full pharmaceutical costs. That is not sufficient."
