Something that could only come from where we came from. The U.S. has its superheroes, and Japan has turned its legends and culture into epic anime that has conquered the world. We kept asking ourselves what's our thing, but obviously the answer was right there all along. Mexican lucha libre is already mythology. There's symbols and secrets, and heroes and villains and masks and rivalries that can shatter the earth. It didn't need to be invented, it just needed to be unleashed. So we found the biggest lucha libre star in the world and brought them into this mythology as partners. That's what Rey Mysterio vs. The Darkness is about. A kid named Oscar who loves Rey Mysterio more than anything else, and through fate and effort gets chosen to fight alongside him against the darkness that threatens everything.
