"Knowing my story helped develop who I am. I am a catalyst architect for a reason. I've lived and breathed in systems that no longer serve me. And what I do is serve other women to help them dismantle those systems because they were never truly developed and built for us to rise and thrive. When I was a young producer at ABC News, I was given an assignment to produce a feature for the end of A Christmas Broadcast. I chose to feature the Boy's Choir of Harlem that was struggling financially at the time. I put together a piece that was authentic, true, and emotional, and it aired at the end of the broadcast just before Christmas. What happened after that, I was completely surprised. Funds came funneling through and saved their financial crisis. That was not my intention. My intention was to show their truth as this program and what it means to young boys in Harlem. But in that moment, I saw the power of storytelling, that if you tell people in a way that moves them the truth, that you can gain shared understanding and you can move people to act."
