"Department of Justice like it has in Republican and Democrat administrations in the past, is sending election monitors to places where there have been problems. Translation, Trump's DOJ is targeting Democratic cities and states in the midterms for its federal election monitoring program. On Tuesday, DOJ Civil Rights Division Chief Harmeet Dhillon announced that monitors will be sent to 15 majority Democratic jurisdictions in six states, Arizona, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Virginia. The singling out of 15 jurisdictions falls in line with Trump's comments from earlier this year, when he called for nationalizing elections. The Republicans should say we want to take over, we should take over the voting, the voting in at least many 15 places. So while Dhillon may try to frame this effort as routine election monitoring, this push alongside the DOJ's other anti-voter attacks marks a major escalation in Trump's bid to overhaul the midterms. Election monitoring has been used to safeguard poll access and protect voting, but now the Trump administration is trying to flip the program on its head to push their election conspiracy theories.
