"Tamar Drive, Spiral Cut Lane, Hayshed Lane, three of nine streets where cars were found with airbags ripped out. Police say it happened sometime between last Thursday night into Friday morning. Ben Paraconi is a territory manager for Triple A. He says the number of thefts often correlate to demand for airbags. An airbag normal retail can be up to $1000 depending on the making model of the vehicle. A stolen airbag can go anywhere from $500 to $200. He adds it's smart to not look for cheaper alternatives. It can lead to you getting a stolen airbag or even one that's defective. Is your family worth a couple of bucks of savings? That's to be blunt, to be brutal. Where do you want to save money? Not in an airbag. Getting a steering wheel lock is a good way to keep your airbag safe. Otherwise, lock your doors, keep valuables out of sight, do whatever you can to make your car not a target reporting on your corner in Ellicott City. Dennis Fuller for WJZ."
