"We don't always see the senior national team head coach joining the staff in some capacity. Jesse Marth is going to be there. What this might mean to have Marth around. It's about not just establishing, you know, the methodology and his game model to this group, which I'm sure is a shared vision and plan, but it's also really getting an idea of where his gaps are and being able to evaluate players right inside competition, right inside training environments, right inside the meal room, being able to speak to players. And also, he's going to be evaluating the current staff. This age group and with the younger age group has not been successful, quite frankly, in the last little while and in the last rotations. And I think he has to decide exactly what he wants on the pitch for his younger players as it relates to his overall plan. You always want to see your national team head coach engaged with what's going on. And I don't think that's a bad thing, especially coming off a World Cup. Like Jesse could take some downtime and go away and no one would bat an eye. What concerns me to a certain degree is why isn't there another coach capable of overseeing this project, this team at this time? Like what does this say to other Canadian coaches and other coaches within the program? If the national team head coach is like stand to the side team, I'm going to be taking this over. I'm not sure what sort of messaging that needs or what it says about our current crop of national team coaches."
