"We sort of learned the popular story of the American Revolution as it being about, you know, taxes and representation. And this is the thing that the colonists were really angry about. But actually, when you look at the history, the thing that they were most upset about was that they wanted more native land. And so Britain, basically, because it didn't feel like it could fight more wars with indigenous nations in North America, had told the colonists that they couldn't move west, past Appalachia, past the Appalachian Crest. And that made them really angry. And, you know, years before there was armed conflict in Boston over taxes and things like that, colonists were actually attacking British troops over their peace policies and their trading policies with indigenous nations. And so it's been written out of the story, even though it's like right there in the Declaration of Independence. But one of the main reasons we even get to the revolution, we even have an American Revolution, is because the colonists wanted more indigenous land and the king was telling them no."
