Minions & Monsters Stars Reveal The Film's Best Hollywood References 🎬⭐️

🎤 Whisper Transcript (en) ⏱ 73s

"Casablanca, I saw immediately, which I loved. I loved the, you know, the Buster Keaton, that house falling on the, you know, I always loved that, whenever I saw that as a kid, I thought, wow. The reveal of, like, the Hollywood directors in the glass boxes and then George Lucas actually being George Lucas. Oh, I loved doing that. They really got me. I left that movie going. There's no way that was George Lucas and there's no way Jeff Bridges played both of those parts. I was wrong about both. You talked about the train scenes. The train scenes. It blew me away. This is really amazing. Yeah, you know, there's this great old story that when they first showed an audience a train barreling towards camera, the audience jumped out of the way because it was an entirely new phenomenon and they reference it here so cleverly. It's so subtly done, though. I mean, the movie is not a subtle movie, but these references are subtly baked in, in a way that, you know, it's not distracting to a kid. I really, really like the Citizen Kane beat. It's kind of a multi-layered one. I mean, there are so many, it's just, and so many that are, you know, it's just throwaways in the back that I sort of like, but that nobody... And it's the general spirit also of like, oh, it feels like that thing I saw when I was a kid. So it's more a feeling than a direct reference. So, yeah, but I really like the Citizen Kane."
