The Weather Network meteorologist Nicole Karkic provides a detailed forecast for the opening weekend of the Calgary Stampede. Find out when to expect thunderstorms on Friday and Sunday, and why Saturday is predicted to be the best day to attend.
"The Calgary Stampede opens on this Friday, very exciting, but you might be looking at your forecast and see that risk of thunderstorms for the city, so let me break it down. For the morning, we had nice clear conditions for the parade, but for the afternoon between one and three p.m., it does look like we could see some passing showers through downtown Calgary as well as where the Stampede grounds are, and that persists until about three o'clock before things clear out, and it looks good for the evening hours. Also what looks good is Saturday's forecast, if you like the sunshine and dry weather. It's going to be warm, staying dry in the south. By Sunday, we do see showers, however, spilling back into Calgary by the afternoon, so morning looks good, it's just that by the afternoon and evening, there's a risk of showers and thunderstorms to be aware of. For the seven-day forecast, Monday features high pressure, so sunshine once again into the picture for the Stampede."
