This Fourth of July holds special significance as our nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. For 250 years, Americans have carried forward the ideals of liberty, democracy, and self-government that define our country.

"With the immortal words, we hold these truths to be self-evident. Thomas Jefferson and all the other delegates of the Second Continental Congress declared independence for America 250 years ago. The great thing about this republic, which has done amazing things, is it's never finished as the Constitution says, we'll continue to fight for a more perfect union. So our job as citizens every day is to celebrate, and today we celebrate a remarkable milestone, but to remember our work is never done as citizens of this great republic."
