"It's really interesting to reflect on the election, you know, like a lot of people, I too thought a minority power-sharing government might be a likely thing six months before the election and certainly three months before the election. I didn't expect a Labour landslide, neither did Labour at that point and there's obvious sort of proof points that not even Labour were thinking that. What we should kind of reflect on is like six months before the election, 12 months before the election, Peter Dutton was ahead in the polls. The media were telling us, you know, Labour better pivot to the right or the Liberals are going to win the election. When Trump became president, there was talk of a Trump bump for Peter Dutton and how Trump was going to be good for Dutton, whereas even the Liberal Party's own review made clear that Trump was probably a problem for them. You know, so big picture, you know, thinking about the way the media are kind of obsessed with Pauline Hanson right now, I think we should remind ourselves just how, not just out of touch, but how bad at reading facts that are available, the commentary it can be when it comes to elections."
