"Huge mobile transporters were used to lift the bridge off of its temporary supports and drive it out across South 8th Street. This was done in a single night. So far, so good. Apart from the initial cracking episode, everything looks fine. And then theoretically, it was put down. They were going to reopen the road and they could do everything else with minimum disruptions, traffic, you know. But obviously that's not what happened. No. Because there was no need for the post-tensioning after the bridge was in position. The plan was to de-tension those outermost elements. And at the moment they are de-tensioned, the existing cracks become significantly larger. One of the construction workers apparently explained, it cracked like hell.
