Extreme heat can become dangerous quickly. Here’s a few ways to stay cool during this extreme heat season: 💧Drink plenty of water. ☀️ Wear lightweight clothing and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning. AND 🚗 Never leave a child or pet in a parked car—not even for a minute.
"Hey everybody, I know it's Independence Day weekend and I know that it's really, really hot outside. So I care for you and as a physician and public health expert, I'm going to talk to you about what to do if you find yourself in extreme heat outside. So first of all, definitely wear your red, white, and blue. Go celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation. It's patriotic. It's a good thing to do. It's good for our communities, but it's going to be hot. When it's really hot and you're starting to feel it, like lightheadedness, nausea, feeling very fatigued, maybe like you're going to pass out, if you start feeling confusion or just kind of a headache and just not feeling right, the best thing to do is get yourself in cooler weather. So find yourself in air condition, building a cooling center, go inside your car, put the AC on, start to consume cold fluid and take care of yourself. But definitely do not leave your pets or your children in the car, not even for a second when you go off for quick errands to the grocery store. So look, if you find yourself getting really sick, just go home, put the AC on, drink some cool water, take a cold shower and you'll feel better. But be careful out there and go have a very fun, safe 4th of July celebration."
