"So I just wanna be clear and I hope y'all are clear with me. Kendrick Johnson died being rolled up in a mat and nobody knew what happened, right? Tamla Hossford went with some friends and ended up deceased and nobody knew what happened. Nolan Xavier Wells went on a boating trip with some friends and nobody knows what happened. It's amazing and very telling how black bodies can go missing when they're not the majority in the room and the people who are the majority tend to walk free without any type of consequence. Like it's okay to just say, oh, we don't know what happened. And that's it. That's the end of the story. Nobody gets to go to jail for it. There is no justice, nothing. It's just, we don't know what happened. Really? Really? Okay. Historically speaking, we have not been okay when it has been us in singular proximity to majority non-black spaces because of anti-blackness and racism. Because people know that if they harm us, the justice system does not always swing our way when it comes to a positive outcome. My heart breaks for the family of Nolan Xavier Wells and I pray that the justice system does what they need to do, but it's Mississippi. It's Mississippi. Black parents talk to your children. Black families talk to each other. Black friends talk to each other about being in these spaces alone because we know, historically speaking, it don't always end up safe for us. We may be able to survive the workplace being the only one sometimes. And even that has its ramifications. But in groups of friendships and gatherings and different things of that nature, for some reason we tend to disappear or our bodies end up deceased and nobody can explain why."
