"The goal of writing is to have a finished novel, right? But it's not only that, right? Because if it was only a goal to have a finished novel, then why not just hire a ghostwriter to write it for you and, presto, you have a finished novel? Because that would rob you of the journey of writing the novel, and I would argue that actually is the more important part than having the novel itself, and having the novel itself is only really valuable because of the journey you took to get there."
