Ever feel like your creative tank is running on empty? ๐ด In this week's Page Break episode, Jessica Brody unpacks a special care package filled with practical strategies to help you avoid burnout and keep your creative energy flowing.
"Here are some practical strategies you can use to take care of yourself and your mind so when it comes time to write, your mind can do its job and write something amazing. The first strategy is to set realistic expectations. I used to think I could write for hours and it wouldn't affect me. It's creative work. It's not like I'm lifting weights here, I would think. Why can't I revise for eight hours straight? I'm just sitting in a chair. But what we often don't realize is that creative work can be very taxing. It requires a lot of brain processing power. The second strategy is to find joy in other creative outlets. The third strategy is to cultivate mindfulness practices. The fourth strategy is to nourish your body and mind. The next strategy is to celebrate small victories. I know I've talked about this a lot, but here it is again. Every chapter, every scene, every paragraph matters and is a victory. And the last strategy I wanna talk about today is to stay connected. Writing can be so lonely, right? But it doesn't have to be. Connection with other humans, especially other writers, is so important for avoiding burnout and taking care of ourselves."
