"get a quick shot of Derek Carr, shall we? Because, Deirdre, I told you this yesterday, we're gonna do the golf voice, we're gonna bring it down low just a little bit. Me and Derek Carr have some unfinished business. Whoa. This goes back about 13 years when I was a sports reporter back in Hawaii. And I'll just say, he promised me something 13 years ago and today we're gonna cash in. Okay. Had a little bit of unfinished business with his former college and NFL quarterback, Derek Carr. And earlier, I was able to resolve things. We had a 13-year IOU on an interview back when I was a sports reporter in Hawaii. I saw him midfield. He said, I will give you an interview, don't worry. You're my guy. And the media relations person for Fresno State came up and said, no, this ends right now. Derek looked back and said, I am so sorry. And he ran off and I told him this morning that IOU, 13 years later, we're coming to collect. Here's what he had to say. You know, I came out a couple of days early this year and there was actually more people here on the Wednesday and Thursday than ever before. And so I'm like expecting a lot of people here, but I got out here just for that reason, just to get that out of the way, just to be able to get out here and swing freely and not have to think about all the people that are here. Totally different type of scoring system. This is not stroke play. How does that factor into how you play this game? Oh yeah, yeah. There's sometimes you get in a mess and you're like, well, bogey won't hurt me. And so, you gotta be able to manage the course, different experiences help you with that for sure. But birdies and birdies and eagles, they take you up the charts, that's for sure. And as he mentioned, a lot more folks on hand today. The gates just opened up at seven o'clock and as you can see, just a lot of folks eager to get their first looks at the stars this morning, eager to get some autographs, maybe some pictures. But for the most part, the celebrities, whether they're athletes or they're from Hollywood, they've been very gracious with their time so far this morning. And speaking of gracious, Derek Hart couldn't have been more gracious. I told him when he declined to do my interview 13 years ago, that was maybe the nicest media snub I've ever gotten in my life. I will take that five out of five times, Monday through Friday. So he could have been more gracious. I didn't give him too much grief on camera, but we definitely laughed about it off camera. That's so funny. 13 years that IOU has finally come through, Deirdre. I think the biggest lesson for me is that you also probably could carry a grudge for a long time as well. Absolutely. 13 and 13 year grudge. Oh my God. You could say that my spirit animal might be an elephant. You never forget. You could. I like it. You know, everyone's out here to have fun. It was all in jest. Reporting from Tahoe, Mike Cherry, back to you."
