There's no sport hotter right now than soccer. The 2026 FIFA World Cup has the sport in the spotlight. And right here in Cleveland, there's a push to provide access to the sport.
"Soccer is not about just winning or losing, it's about having fun. Soccer is the world sport, but right here in Cleveland it's growing, especially at the Lonnie Burton Rec Center, because of an organization called Goal Dreams. Now Goal Dreams is allowing kids to experience the sport of soccer. They're teaching kids drills, like footwork skills, teaching them how to score, how to pass, things that they maybe weren't exposed to, because soccer is largely considered a pay-to-play sport. But right here in Cleveland these kids are getting the opportunity to experience soccer for free. There's plenty of opportunity and chance. We just got to go in and tap that untapped potential in the community. They have a tournament on July 18th, getting kids free cleats and having them play real competitive games of soccer, looking to get into the untapped talent of the youth here in Cleveland on a big stage."
