"Networking with other streamers can hurt you in surprising ways. Hi, I'm Flashbowsky and I'm a streamer. Now, not everybody's out to get you, but unfortunately some people are. You see, a lot of videos about how brilliant it is to network, build community, make friends in the space. What you don't see is anyone telling you how badly it can go. So let me tell you about the types I've met. The ladder climber. You're not a mate to this person, you're scaffolding. They want your community, in their community, and once it's done, so are you. The professional victim. Everything is always going wrong for them, usually about 10 minutes before sub-goals are mentioned. The parasocial speed runner. You've done one collab and suddenly you're their best friend, their business partner and godfather to a child that does not exist. And the worst one, the one I fell for, the storyteller. This bloke seemed genuine. We collabed for months, shared communities, shared raids. I had him round my gaff. And the thing about the storyteller is he earns your trust with real details, real places, real dates, real memories, which is exactly how he got me. Because to this day, I believe him when he says he was there in 1998, when the undertaker threw mankind off Hell in a Cell and plummeted 16 feet through an announcer's table.
