"I want to be clear, this was not a tax cut for everyone. The Joint Committee on Taxation found that if you're in the bottom one-third of households, you were actually financially worse off as a result of this bill being signed into law. And of course, in terms of those who got the tax cuts, the top 1% got more money than the bottom 60% of Americans combined. This bill truly was Robin Hood in reverse. It is robbing from the poor, taking away their health care, taking away their food assistance in order to give money to the ultra and mega wealthy. Now, there's one other point that I want to make on this because as I focus on those who have lost their health care coverage, including many here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, there might be a false impression that people come away with. There might be people who are on a private health insurance plan, as indeed a majority of Americans are. They might walk away and say, geez, you know, I feel bad for those people who are losing their Medicaid. I feel bad for those people who are losing Obamacare. But I get my health care coverage through my employer, so I must be okay, right? Wrong. Every single American has faced higher health care bills as a result of this bill becoming law last year. This has truly been a calamity."
